通过通俗易懂的故事情节，这部电影毫不掩饰的表达了戈达尔对前南斯拉夫内战的厌恶，并一再的强调了他对西方强权政治的批判立场。而且，戈达尔认为强权政治不仅毁掉人们的生命，更是文化艺术的刽子手，在强权政治的把持下，电影，乃至其他人类文化都陷入了难以抽身的殖民文化泥潭中无法自拔。
